The MPI CEC is delighted to announce that Prof. Walter Leitner, Head of the Molecular Catalysis Department, has been accepted into the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech).

This prestigious membership recognizes his outstanding scientific achievements and international reputation in the field of sustainable chemistry.

Prof. Leitner conducts research at the MPI CEC on catalytic systems at the interface of energy and chemistry. His work on the use of CO₂ as a raw material, the development of sustainable chemical processes and energy-efficient conversion processes is paving the way for a climate-neutral future. Acatech, funded by the German federal and state governments and under the patronage of the Federal President, advises politicians and society on key technical and scientific issues of the future. It brings together leading figures from the engineering, natural and social sciences.

This award not only highlights Prof. Leitner's expertise, but also the importance of our research for global energy and environmental challenges. The entire institute extends its warmest congratulations on this high honour!
