Since 2010, the MPI CEC has been participating in the nation-wide event Girls'Day.
The event is a great opportunity for young girls to get an insight into the work routines of a scientist.
Girls have the chance to work for one day in jobs were female employees are still underrepresented.
Registration for the individual workshops is done via the Girls'Day website:
Just click on the radar in the upper right corner, enter our postcode (45470) and search for our institute. We are looking forward to you!
A few times a year, our chemistry laboratory technician Bernd Mienert visits primary schools in the area to show some easy but fun experiments to the students.
The visit is embedded in the lessons and is prepared and followed up by the class teacher. The common goal is to spark enthusiasm for the natural sciences and enhance the regular curriculum
Interested teachers are welcome to contact the Department of Research Communication for further information.
Experimental lecture for children—magical, thrilling, interactive.
In the institute's atrium, elementary school-aged children can look forward to a fantastic afternoon full of fascinating experiments, amazing effects, and real hands-on science. From dragon breath to sparkling ice spells – what at first sounds like magic turns out to be amazing chemistry. In a playful and entertaining way, the MPI CEC team shows how closely magic and science are actually related.
With the experimental lectures in the “Meet the Scientist” series, we want to give our guests, young and old, the opportunity to regularly experience the fascinating world of science up close and to come into direct contact with the researchers at the MPI CEC. The kids' version is aimed specifically at children aged 6 and above and aims to offer them age-appropriate, exciting insights into our current research projects and to show how science is shaping our future.
Duration: approx. 2 hours
