Researchers from the Otto-Hahn research group led by Dr. Manuel van Gemmeren have succeeded in developing a synthesis method that enables C-H olefinations of aromatics, known as Fujiwara-Moritani reactions, to be carried out in a resource-saving manner and without directing groups. In their "hot paper" in the journal <link http: onlinelibrary.wiley.com journal _blank external-link-new-window internal link in current>"Angewandte Chemie", they report how the use of a two ligand-based catalyst system allows the desired substrates to be used as limiting reagents, making this type of reaction applicable to valuable precursors.
