Georg Wittig-Victor Grignard Award

Prof. Walter Leitner receives French-German Research Prize

Prof. Walter Leitner, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion and holder of the RWTH Chair of Technical Chemistry and Petrochemistry, is awarded the French-German "Georg Wittig-Victor Grignard" Prize of the Société Chimique de France (SCF).

The prize is awarded annually to excellent chemists whose research contributes to the shaping of chemistry in both countries and thus promotes the internationalization of this discipline. The prize will be awarded at the beginning of 2021 by the SCF together with the German Chemical Society (GDCh).

Leitner and his team will receive the prize for their work in the field of homogeneous catalysis in supercritical CO2 medium (scCO2) and and for their activity in all biomass transformation and valorisation processes. The award also honors Leitner's strong commitment to international scientific cooperation and networking with French chemists.
