Great honor for Prof. Neese

Prof. Neese as Davidson lecturer at the UNT

Prof. Neese, director at the MPI CEC of the department ‘Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy’ gave his Davidson Lecture "Insights into photosynthetic water oxidation from a combination of spectroscopy and quantum chemistry“ on March 27th, 2015 at the University of North Texas.

In 2005 Professor Weston Thatcher Borden and his wife started an annual lectureship at the University of North Texas (UNT) in theoretical chemistry, named after a friend and former collaborator of Prof. Borden: Ernest Davidson.

The first Davidson Lecturer was, of course, Ernest Davidson and he was followed by Ken Houk, Keiji Morokuma, Don Truhlar, Roald Hoffmann, Emily Carter, Mark Ratner, Rod Bartlett, Pekka Pyykko and Walter Thiel.

Prof. Frank Neese was asked to be the eleventh Davidson Lecturer and he agreed deltightedly. All the previous speakers are among the best in the world and so it was an honor for Prof. Neese to become part of the Davidson lecture series
