Entrance of the General Administration of the MPG (c) Axel Griesch

Last week the Scientific Council of the Max Planck Society met in the Harnack-House in Berlin. The Scientific Council is made up of the Scientific Members and the Directors of the institutes and research facilities. It is divided into three sections - the Biology and Medicine Section (BM), the Chemistry, Physics & Technology Section (CPT), and the Human Sciences Section (HS). The Council also includes the scientific staff members from the institutes elected to the Sections.

As elected staff member from the MPI CEC Prof. Alexander Auer took part in the meeting. Prof. Ute Frevert, Chairperson of the Scientific Council, also welcomed Prof. Martin Muhler to the meeting.

Prof. Muhler is a new Max Planck Fellow at the MPI CEC. The Max Planck Fellow Programme promotes cooperation between outstanding university professors and Max Planck Society researchers. The appointment of university professors as Max Planck Fellows entails the supervision of a small working group at a Max Planck Institute. Prof. Muhler as a Max Planck Fellow is very important for the cooperation between the MPI CEC and the Ruhr University Bochum. He supervises the group „Heterogeneous Redox Catalysis“ at the MPI CEC.
