Potential for a green energy economy based on hydrogen

First characterization of a sensory [FeFe] hydrogenase

Scientists at the MPI CEC have succeeded in characterizing a sensory [FeFe] hydrogenase for the first time. Hydrogenases are enzymes capable of making hydrogen (H2) using protons from water.
A reaction with relevance to a potential future green energy economy based on H2.

The results obtained by the Mülheim researchers together with scientists from Hokkaido University have recently been published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).
