RSC appoints Prof. Neese member of the Advisory Board, Faraday Discussions

The Royal Society of Chemistry appointed Professor Frank Neese, director of the department 'Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy' at the MPI CEC, a member of the newly founded Advisory Board, Faraday Discussions for 2 years.

The RSC is a learned society (professional association) in the United Kingdom with the goal of "advancing the chemical sciences." It was formed in 1980 from the merger of the Chemical Society, the Royal Institute of Chemistry, the Faraday Society and the Society for Analytical Chemistry with a new Royal Charter and the dual role of learned society and professional body.

Faraday Discussions covers a variety of topics in rapidly developing areas of chemistry and its interfaces with other scientific disciplines. The members duties are:

  • Represent Faraday Discussions at scientific meetings, promote forthcoming meetings and the journal and encourage abstract submission and attendance at Faraday Discussions.
  • Inform the Editorial Office of plans for attending conferences and distribute journal publicity (provided by the Editorial Office) at such meetings where appropriate.
  • Commission at least one proposal per two year term and persuade eminent colleagues to submit a proposal.
  • Suggest to the (Deputy) Editor potential topics, committee members or speakers to ensure a high quality programme of future Faraday Discussions.
  • Act as referees for proposals for future Faraday Discussions meetings in their field of expertise. 
  • Act as a sounding board for suggested policy changes.
  • Comment on the events/journal, their reception and impact.
