RNDr. PhDr. Zdeněk HOSTOMSKÝ, CSc., director at the <link http: www.uochb.cz web structure _blank external-link-new-window external link in new>Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry v.v.i., Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic,  appointed Prof. Neese to this position.

The MPI CEC-director follows Prof. Walter Thiel, director at the neighbouring institute who dropped from the Advisory Board.

The main role of IAB is to help guide the Institute to become a dynamic and internationally recognized place for basic research in organic chemistry and biochemistry, as well as in theoretical chemistry. At the same time, the Institute has been traditionally quite successful in discovering new biologically active chemical compounds which were subsequently developed into useful pharmaceutical products.
