CAS-TWAS Symposium on Green Technology

Prof. Walter Leitner gives plenary lecture

Prof. Walter Leitner (Director, <link internal-link internal link in current>Department of Molecular Catalysis) was invited to give a plenary lecture at the <link http: gt2018.csp.escience.cn dct page _blank external-link-new-window internal link in current>7th CAS TWAS Symposium on Green Technology, which will be held July 22-25, 2018 in Beijing, China.

The symposium is named after its main hosts – the <link http: english.cas.cn _blank external-link-new-window internal link in current>Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and the <link https: twas.org _blank external-link-new-window internal link in current>World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS) and has been successfully organized since 2012. The CAS-TWAS Symposium provides a high-level platform for worldwide academic exchange and project collaboration, with a focus on wide range topics including green chemistry, renewable resources, new materials, bioengineering and energy storage.

Prof. Leitner will give a lecture entitled: “Sustainable Chemical Value Chains: Challenges and Opportunities for Green Chemistry”. In his talk, he will discuss the challenges and opportunities in developing and using the non-fossil resources as raw materials together with the development of carbon-free energy technologies for a more sustainable energy future. In particular, Prof. Leitner will highlight how scientific approach in catalysis and technology can promote this progress especially through academic-industrial collaborations.
