Dr. Andreas Vorholt, group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion, has been awarded the Jochen Block Prize of the German Catalysis Society 2018. He received the prize for his work on the homogeneously catalyzed conversion of renewable raw materials with innovative reactor concepts.

The Jochen Block Prize, which honors the achievements of young scientists, is endowed with 3,000 euros and was presented at the 51st German Catalysis Meeting in Weimar on 15 March 2018.

At the MPI CEC Dr. Vorholt heads the group "Multiphase Catalysis" in the department of Director Prof. Leitner. The group deals with homogeneously catalyzed conversions and recycling of the catalysts developed. In new reactor concepts, multiphase reactions are investigated and the long-term stability of the reactor and recycling concepts are investigated in miniplant structures.
